A practical property buying guide for India

Buying property is easier when the process is broken into clear decisions. This guide helps you prepare for residential and commercial purchases, compare the true cost and ask better questions before committing.

Six steps to a better-informed purchase

Step 1

Set the complete budget

Include taxes, registration, parking, maintenance deposits, fit-out costs and finance charges—not only the advertised base price.

Step 2

Define the purpose

A family home, rental investment and commercial workspace each require different locations, layouts, timelines and exit considerations.

Step 3

Shortlist before visiting

Compare usable area, connectivity, construction stage, possession expectations, developer history and recurring costs before arranging visits.

Step 4

Verify the project

Review RERA information, approvals, title-related documents, the agreement, payment schedule and what the quoted price includes.

Step 5

Inspect carefully

Check access, light, ventilation, floor efficiency, common areas, parking and the actual surroundings rather than relying only on renders.

Step 6

Plan booking to handover

Keep written records of commitments, payment receipts and correspondence, and confirm the inspection and handover process early.

Before you make a booking

Ask for a written cost sheet and identify which figures can change. Confirm the unit, floor, area definition, parking allocation, payment milestones and expected possession date. For an under-construction project, compare the payment schedule with your available funds and loan disbursement.

Independent legal and financial advice may be appropriate before signing. Urban Hub Realty can coordinate project information, visits and paperwork support, but every buyer should read the final documents and understand the obligations being accepted.
